Auto Find in Triggers

The Auto Find in Triggers function enables you to search similar triggers for multiple templates at a time without opening the template one by one. You can log errors to a specified file location. From the Tools menu, select Auto Find in Triggers. The Auto Find in Triggers window opens. In the Search box, enter the name of the trigger. You can include a wildcard symbol *. For example, you can search for Assign Field Value triggers. From the Type list, select the applicable template type: All, Case Management, Demographics, Medical Records, Practice, or System. In the Log to File box, enter the file path for the error log. Note: If the file path is not entered, log file is not created and the limited result entries are displayed for viewing. You cannot access the results. Select OK. The search window opens. When the validation is completed, a message appears. Any errors found are logged to the specified file location. Viewing Warnings

The Warnings on the Triggers window and Trigger Validation window detects if a trigger returns results to a field and only looks for truncation issues. A lot of variables assign shows as warnings since it treats the variables as 1000 characters by default. Since, the length for the variables is not defined. To view warnings on triggers, you can select Warnings on the Triggers window to display the Trigger Validation window. If no warnings are detected for the triggers you entered, the message, 0 Warnings Detected, appears. If trigger warnings are detected, they appear in the middle section, and the count is shown. The middle section of the window displays the trigger field, event, conditions, action, and parameter. The Include Warnings check box is to add the truncation warnings if any to the regular syntax check. Parent topic: General Trigger Setup

Syntax Check Triggers

The Syntax Check Triggers function enables you to check for syntax errors on the Trigger Validation window. You can check conditions for all triggers, verify parameters for selected types of triggers, and validate triggers. On the Main toolbar, select Syntax Check. The Trigger Validation window opens. If trigger errors are detected, they appear in the middle section, and the count is shown. The middle section of the window displays the trigger field, event, conditions, action, and parameter. Search Trigger Values

You can search for specified values in conditions and parameters for selected types of triggers in the currently open template. The search values can include fields, variables, functions, characters, or other values. You can then select a trigger from the search results for editing. Do one of the following: To automatically populate the search value with a specific template field, either: Right-click the field, and then select Find in Triggers from the menu. Select the field, and then select Find in triggers on the Main toolbar. To manually enter the search value, select Find in Triggers on the Triggers window. The Find In Triggers window opens. If applicable, the search value box displays the selected field. The window contains checkboxes for commonly used triggers and for conditions. The Conditions and Assign Field Value checkboxes are selected by default. If the search value is blank or you want to change it, enter the value in the input box. Turn off a Trigger

An active trigger is indicated by a check mark in the check box to the left of the trigger. To open the Triggers window, do one of the following: Right-click anywhere on the template, and then select Triggers from the shortcut menu. Select Trigger on the Main toolbar. From the View menu, select Triggers. Select a specific field within the template. Select Trigger on the Main toolbar, or right-click the selected field, and then select Triggers from the shortcut menu. Select the trigger you want to inactivate. Select Disable. Change a Trigger

You can edit the field, event, action, or condition for an existing trigger. The edit function also provides a quick way for you to add a trigger based on an existing, simple trigger. This capability cannot be used for certain triggers that are tied to cross-reference tables (for example, the Assign Field Value trigger tied to the trig_mf_xref table). To open the Triggers window, do one of the following: Right-click anywhere on the template, and then select Triggers from the shortcut menu. On the Main toolbar, select Triggers. From the View menu, select Triggers. Select a specific field within the template. Select Triggers, select View > Triggers, or right-click the selected field, and then select Triggers from the shortcut menu. Note: The Copy and Paste buttons appear on the Triggers window only when you select a specific field on the template. In the Triggers window, select the trigger you want to change.
