View or Add Comments for an Updated Order

When you update an existing lab or radiology order, you can add and view comments. Select the Tracking tab at the bottom of the Update Lab Order window or Update Radiology Order window. The comments window opens. Select Add . The Sign-off and Tracking Comments window opens. Select Tracking as the comment Type. Enter a comment regarding the order. If applicable, select My Phrases to select an appropriate phrase. Do one of the following: To simply save the comments, select Save. If you add comments that require another user or group to perform a task, select Save & Task and select the recipient. You can view and add comments from the Orders Summary tab in the following ways: If comments exist for an order, the Orders Tracking Comments indicator displays next to the order on the Orders Summary tab. To add or view order comments, select the Orders comments tracking indicator next to the selected order and the Sign-off and Orders Tracking section displays the previous comments. To add comments, select Add and continue with step 2 in View or Add Comments for an Updated Order. If an order has no comments, the Orders comments tracking indicator does not display next to the order on the grid. To add comments, select Add and continue with step 2 in View or Add Comments for an Updated Order. You can also add comments for an order or view existing comments for an order by selecting the Tracking tab on the Orders Summary tab. Follow the steps in View or Add Comments for an Updated Order. On the Filters bar of the Orders Management Control Practice template, select Unfinished. The Orders Management grid for the Unfinished filter opens. Double-click the row for the patient order to update. If you select a lab order, the Update Lab Order for Patient Name window opens. Updating Lab and Radiology Orders

You can open an existing unlocked lab or radiology order and add or change details for it. You can also add comments for an updated order, if required. If the encounter associated with an order has been locked, you can only view the order. The Save, Save & Send, Save & Fax, Save & Print, or Save & Task actions are unavailable. When you update an unfinished order, you must complete all required fields that have been set up as Mandatory Data Points in File Maintenance Practice Preferences. These required fields appear in red text. If you do not fill in a required field, when you try to save your selections or entries, a message appears, prompting you to complete the field.
