Patient Savings Programs Eligibility Response Time

If you want to have more time for the system to receive an eligibility response for Patient Savings Programs before a medication is sent to a pharmacy, you can set the response time for the Send button. It increases the chances to review the program information and select the Patient Savings Programs. When the time is set and you select the Send button, the system waits for the specified amount of time for a patient savings program offer to appear. If the offer appears but the provider has not responded to it, the system prompts you to respond. The Send Prescription window only opens in one of the following situations: The provider takes action on the available Patient Savings Programs. The provider does not take action on the available programs within the defined time. The system cancels the patient savings eligibility request and continues the send process. Enabling the Patient Savings Programs

By default, the Patient Savings Programs are enabled at both the Practice Preferences and User Preferences levels. You can select Patient Savings Programs available for providers to offer to the eligible patients. You are allowed to offer the programs to eligible patients at both of these levels on enabling the settings. You can select your preferred printer or practice's default printer to print the Patient Savings Program's related material. Sending Patient Savings and Education Documents to NextGen® PxP Portal

NextGen Healthcare recommends that the patient must receive a copy of the Patient Savings Program and education documents to ensure medication adherence. When a prescriber prescribes (by printing, faxing, or e-prescribing) a medication that qualifies for a Patient Savings Program, the system automatically sends all relevant program and education documents to NextGen® PxP Portal for the enrolled patients. The prescriber can still print the program and education materials for the patient. In the Send Prescription window, the Alerts section displays the message indicating that information about the prescribed medications is available on NextGen® PxP Portal. When you select Send, the prescription is sent to the printer, fax, or pharmacy and the Patient Savings Program documents are sent to NextGen® PxP Portal. Print Patient Savings and Education Documents

NextGen Healthcare recommends that the patient receives a printed copy of the patient savings and education documents to ensure medication adherence. When ePrescribing, faxing, or printing a medication that has a savings or education program, you are prompted to print all patient savings and education documents. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. In the Medication module, after accepting a medication with an available program, select Send or Print.The Patient Savings and Education Documents window opens. Note: CureAll is a fictitious medication used for demonstration purposes only. To print the documents, select Print All.The documents print to the printer defined in Tools > Preferences > Medications > Patient Education and Saving Programs. If a printer has not been defined, a window displays the Microsoft® Windows 8 default printer and routes. Patient Savings Summary

When a provider prescribes or renews a medication for a patient, the application verifies whether the patient and provider qualify for a Patient Savings Program. During the prescribing workflow, if the prescribed medication has an associated Patient Savings Program, the adjudication information for the coupon or program details is added to the eRx message to the pharmacy, enabling the patient to receive those savings. The patient is also provided a copy of the offer and Patient Savings and Education Documents. Patient Savings Programs

NextGen Healthcare has collaborated with business partners to bring the following Patient Savings Programs to the Medications module with the goal of better patient health: eCopay/Coupon provides coupon that reduces the out-of-pocket costs on selected branded prescriptions for eligible patients. The offers appear at point-of-prescribing so that the prescriber can notify the patient about the coupon. The provider can either send the coupon to NextGen® PxP Portal or print the coupon to an in-office printer without disturbing the workflow. ScriptGuides offers patient-tailored educational documents that provide clinically relevant support resources designed to motivate patients to fill prescriptions, thereby increasing adherence. These materials are sent electronically to NextGen® PxP Portal for enrolled patients or printed copy using an in-office printer.
