In the Diagnostic tab, you can view and modify the details of your selected diagnostic order items, associated diagnoses, and other general information, such as billing type and order priority.
- Open CPOE.
- Select an order item.
- Assign a diagnosis to the order item.
- To view and modify the order item, do one of the following:
- Select the Diagnostic tab.
- In the All tab, select the order item's link under Description.
Note: When you select multiple diagnostic order items, Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) groups the order items according to the performing entity you select.
- Under the Diagnostic Order section, do any of the following:
- View the patient's treatment history.
- Select a Laterality value for the diagnostic order item.
Note: L indicates left, R indicates right, and B indicates bilateral.
- Modify the assigned diagnosis.
- To change the performing entity for the selected diagnostic order item, select the corresponding cross
icon and reselect the order item with a different performing entity.
- Under the Diagnostic Details section, do any of the following:
- Assign tasks to other users or user groups.
- Document the ordering reason and manage schedules for future and recurring orders.
- Evaluate Appropriate Use Criteria (AUC) for advanced imaging tests, such as Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scans.
- Check the medical necessity for tests and manage Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN) for the patient.
- Select answers for Ask at Order Entry (AOE) questions.
- Under the Order Details section, do any of the following:
- In Billing Type, select the billing type and the party responsible for billing.
- In Ordering Priority, select the completion time frame for the test.
Note: The default selection is Routine.
- In Order Status, select an order status for the test.
Note: The default selection is New.
- Under Clinical Information, document any special instructions necessary for the order.
- To notify another physician of the test results, select the physician's name from the Copy To Provider list.
Note: The default value is the referring physician on the encounter and the primary-care-physician on the patient's chart.
- To search for physicians not listed in the current practice and location, select Provider Search to open the Provider Search window. To remove a provider from the Copy To Provider list, select the provider's name and select the cross
icon.
