Create an Audio File

NextGen® Enterprise EHR enables you to record and play back audio files in data entry fields to simplify storing information relevant to patients' records. To record and listen to voice files in templates, your workstation must be equipped with a sound card, a microphone, and speakers. Note: You cannot open or go to another template or perform other functions while you are playing or recording audio. Select the Microphone button within the audio field. The NextGen Audio Recorder window opens. To begin recording your audio file, select Record. To finish the recording, select Stop. Enter the name for the file in the Desc box. To save your audio file, select Save. To listen to the recorded file, select Play. To change the recording, select to switch from Insert to Overwrite mode. select OK. If you did not save your file, an Audio window opens, prompting you to save your work. Do one of the following: To save changes, select Yes. Foot Pedal Devices

The NextGen® Enterprise EHR Audio Recorder supports integration with foot pedal devices that enable mapping to outside sources. To enable a device, you must map each of the available pedals to the NextGen Audio Recorder controls: Rewind. CTRL + L Stop/Play. CTRL + M Fast Forward. CTRL+ R Parent topic: Template Audio Files

Document Audio Transcription

NextGen® Enterprise EHR enables you to export audio files recorded in NextGen® Enterprise EHR by generating documents in Rich Text Format (RTF) with embedded audio data. These documents can be sent to a transcriptionist, who opens them in a word processor, replays the audio file, and transcribes it. A completed transcribed document is saved into a designated folder and imported back into NextGen® Enterprise EHR by inserting the transcribed text into the applicable template.
