Change Interaction Display Level
From the Tools menu, select Preferences. The Preferences window opens. Select the Medications tab. Select DUR. The DUR Preferences window opens. DUR Preferences Select the Interaction Display Level tab. DUR Preferences Do one of the following: Set the display to a specific level. Select the Use System Default check box to display the Interactions based upon the universal system setting. Note: You cannot set the display level lower than the required system minimum. Select OK. Drug to Allergy Interaction
A new medication prescribed to a patient can have a negative interaction with a patient's medication allergy. If such interaction occurs the Drug Interaction window opens. The Drug Interaction window lists the medication that caused the interaction, and information for each listed patient medication allergy. The Reference at the bottom of the window displays the citation for the DUR information. You must acknowledge all notices listed in the Drug Interaction window and specify the reason for overriding the warning. The medication interaction process displays drug interactions according to the display levels set for the system and a specific user. The medication interaction process does not perform checks on user-defined medications or user-define allergies. If the Enterprise option to check for interactions across practices is enabled, the medication interaction process checks for possible interactions across all practices. Disease Contraindication
A new medication prescribed to a patient can have a negative interaction with an existing patient diagnosis. If a contraindication occurs, the Drug Interaction window opens. The window specifies the medication that caused the contraindication, and information about each prescribed medication that causes a drug interaction. You must acknowledge all drug interactions and select a reason for overriding the warning before you can add the medication. You can access medication interaction in the following ways: Automatic Interactions/Contraindications/Duplications check for new medications or medication renewals - available based on the setup of the Universal Preferences AND NextGen® Enterprise Preferences. DUR Preferences
The Drug Utilization Review (DUR) preferences enable you to create a predefined list of the override reasons required for acknowledging all DUR interactions. If you have the necessary user rights and permissions, you can set the following display levels: Interaction Display Level Condition Interaction Display Level Pediatric Precautions Display Level Geriatric Precautions Display Level Allergy Interactions Display Level Note: The interaction default value should be equal to or greater than the interaction minimum value for all interaction settings in Universal Preferences.
