Barcode Requirements

Although the SAP Crystal Reports functionality in the Reports module of NextGen® Enterprise EHR allows you to generate, view and print custom reports it has limited capability, you are not able to modify and add barcoding to the reports without purchasing the following items: SAP Crystal Reports Barcode software and fonts supported by SAP Crystal Reports, from vendors such as Azalea or IDAutomation A barcode scanner that reads the installed fonts For more information, regarding SAP Crystal Reports, see https://www.sap.com/products/crystal-reports.html. Add Barcodes to a Report

You can add barcodes to an SAP Crystal Reports by incorporating database fields into formulas. When you create the report, you should take into consideration about the field size, specifically height and width. If you create a barcode that is too wide or too small, it may cut off characters or not scan at all. For example, the maximum number of characters for a readable barcode on a lab specimen label is 19. Note: Before you select a report to modify, make a copy of the report and modify the copy. Open the copy of the NextGen® Report you want to modify. If needed, select Design and Field Explorer from the View menu. Crystal reports In Field Explorer, right-click Formula Fields and select New. The Formula Name window opens. Formula Name Enter a name that identifies the formula. For example, “barcode_ufo_num” and select OK. The Formula Workshop - Formula Editor window opens. Set Up SAP Crystal Reports using Report Dialog

You must do the following in the report dialog to generate and print a report: Access the reports Select the report type Select the location Set up the printer. Note: Make sure you have installed your SAP Crystal Reports properly before setting up your SAP Crystal Reports. Once you have completed these steps, you can modify the reports if needed.
