Edit Suggested Medication

When you approve an Rx Change request in the Workflow module, you can edit a suggested medication and change the SIG, quantity, diagnosis, and refills. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR and open the Workflow module. Select the Clinical Tasking tab and select an Rx Change request from the task list. The Rx Change request details and patient information appears. Under Suggested Medication, select Edit. The Edit Suggested Medication window opens. Select a medication from the Medication list. Enter the SIG information. Change the values for Quantity and Refills, select an option from the RxFill Notification list, and then enter a note for the pharmacy. To edit the dose for the medication, select Dose Range. The Pediatric Dosing Calculator window opens, where you can adjust the medication dose based on the patient's weight. Select a SIG

After you enter the required medication information, you must select a SIG. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR and access the Medications module. Select a medication. Enter all required medication information. Select or build a SIG. The selected SIG is automatically assigned to the medication. If the SIG contains more characters than the display allows, the text is truncated. If you hover the cursor over the truncated text, a tooltip displays the complete SIG. If the SIG exceeds the 140-character maximum for electronic prescriptions, an alert appears next to the SIG text. Select a SIG You can change the quantity and the interval of the medication by either typing the values or using the arrows to select the appropriate values. Select a Pediatric SIG Code

Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR and open the medication module. Select a medication. Enter the required medication information. Do one of the following: Hover over Add Sig. Select Add Sig. Select the automatically populated SIG Code. The most commonly used Pediatric SIG from First Data Bank appears. Pediatric SIG Clear the Common Sigs check box to display all available SIG codes. Available SIG codes If no pediatric SIG Code for the selected medication exists, select Calculator to display the Pediatric Dosing Calculator window. Note: The pediatric calculator may be unavailable for multi-ingredient medications being prescribed to a pediatric patient. Select one or more of the following: All Once 2 Times 3 Times 4 Times Select a SIG Code or manually build a Pediatric SIG Code. The selected pediatric SIG is automatically assigned to the selected medication. Open the SIG Builder. In the Sig list, select a SIG from any one of the following categories: Most Used (if available) The Most Used Sig category is assigned by the number of times providers select that sig for the medication. Ordered or Prescribed Medications

You can view all medications that are ordered or prescribed through the Medication module or Office Procedures template in the Ordered/Prescribed medications grid on the MICS Med Management template. When a medication was ordered through the Medication module, the SIG, start date, Rx quantity, Rx Units, total prescriptions, prescriptions remaining, last refilled, last audit and total prescriptions display in the SIG column of the grid.
