Perform a Manual Eligibility Check
To perform a patient eligibility check, you must have Surescripts services enabled. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and select a patient from Patient Lookup window. To view the Medications module for the patient, select Medications on the Quick Buttons panel. The Medications module opens. If the eligibility status displays No eligibility status, select Eligibility.The Checking Patient Eligibility window opens. While the NextGen® Enterprise EHR is acquiring information, the eligibility status is Pending. When the NextGen® Enterprise EHR acquires the available patient eligibility information, the status changes to Eligible. If the patient is not eligible, the status displays Not Eligible. Note: A patient can have multiple eligibilities. If you want to view the details of a patient's eligibility, select the eligibility status.The Patient Eligibility window opens. View Eligibility Response
To return to the dashboard, select the dashboard tab next to the patient's name in Eligibility Response. Double-clicking another patient's name from the dashboard grid displays that patient's eligibility response. You can open eligibility response information for multiple patients, and tab through each by selecting the patient's tab. Parent topic: Eligibility Verification Manager

Access the Patient Status Template

Eligibility Verification Status Report
The Eligibility Verification Status report is available if your system is licensed for NextGen® Eligibility Verification. You can use the report to view status information returned by payers for patients that had an eligibility request submitted from NextGen® Enterprise PM. For more information, go to the NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the User Guide for NextGen® Eligibility Verification Report configuration and filter options include Request Date, Appointment Date, Appointment Status,Encounter Status,Encounter Create Date, and Service Type. To access the report in NextGen® Enterprise PM, select the Reports menu and select General and then select Eligibility Verification Status. Note: This report uses enhanced reporting functionality. Add Patient Status
In the NTS Single Visit template, you can document a change in the patient’s condition. In the Assessment panel, select the Patient status field. The Patient Status picklist opens for you to select a description of change in patient status. Patient Status picklist Do one of the following to enter the patient status: If the picklist displays the status you want to use, select a descriptor for the change in the patient’s status. The picklist closes and the description appears in the Patient Status field. If the desired descriptor does not appear in the picklist, select blank at the top of the list to close the picklist, and then type an entry in the Patient Status field. The picklist closes and the description appears in the Patient Status field. To change the entry, open the picklist again, and then select another descriptor.
