Enable Automatic Validation

To control whether CDAs are automatically validated when they are opened, To set the overall default behavior, Select the Custom tab. Select Custom View Filters Settings. Select or clear Enable Automatic CDA Validation. Select Save, then Close. Note: If you close without saving, the changes are lost. To set the default for when CDA Viewer opens in the Data Share module, In the Data Share module, select Settings Settings. Select or clear Enable Automatic Validation. Scroll down if necessary and select Apply. To set the default for when CDA Viewer opens in the Medical Summary Utility, In the Medical Summary Utility, select File > Options. Under External Endpoint, select or clear Enable Automatic Validation. Select OK. Parent topic: CDA Validation

Manually Initiate Validation

To display the CDA Validation Report for the currently open document, Select the CDA Validation button in the left margin of the CDA Viewer. CDA Validation Button If the CDA was previous validated, then the validation report appears. If the CDA was never previously validated, then a message appears stating that validation is turned off. In this case, select Validate Now and the validation report opens. Validation Report The validation report lists the total number of errors and warnings. Specific text for each error and warning also appears in the display. You may need to resize the window and/or scroll to see all messages. If you update the schematron files for the HIE Gateway NextGen Validation service, you should revalidate the CDA to test changes in the service. To revalidate the CDA, select Revalidate. You can export the validation report to a file by clicking the Export button at the bottom of the CDA Validation pane. Parent topic: CDA Validation

CDA Validation

The CDA Validation feature displays a detailed report of items in a CDA that violate CDA standards. This feature is available in both Custom View and Full View. Enable Automatic Validation You can specify whether the CDA Viewer automatically performs validation when you open a document. Validate the HIE Documents

In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, on the Categories tab, you can validate the Health Information Exchange (HIE) documents. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and select a patient from the Patient Lookup window. Select the Categories tab. Select Tree View from the list. Select HIE Documents category. To expand the category, do one of the following: To expand all categories, select Category Options, and select Expand All Categories. To expand the selected category, select . Double-click the appropriate HIE document.The HIE document opens. Select the CDA Validation tab.The CDA Validation pane opens. Note: The CDA validation did not pass icon displays for the validation not completed HIE documents on the Categories tab. On the CDA Validation pane, select Validate Now.The validation details appear in the CDA Validation pane. Note: You can select on the Categories tab to update the CDA validation icon.
