Formulary

A formulary is a list of drugs and a set of rules that govern the drug's use. The list represents the most current clinical opinion of physicians, pharmacists, and other experts of pharmacology and disease treatment and prevention. The list is regularly updated and revised.

Each organization researches and determines the safest and most cost-effective list of drugs. In this case, an organization represents the name of a company that corresponds to a health care plan. Any number of organizations can share the same formulary; however, each organization can have only one current formulary.
