Set Up Other Required Orders fields

Select File Maintenance > Master Files > System > EHR > Practices > Preferences > Orders Module. Select All tab. The Mandatory Data Points options appear. To display the required fields for a certain order action, such as creating a lab order, in the Data Points Context field select the appropriate order action. Select the Effective Date to indicate what date the field displays as required, if necessary. Select the Open Record button. The Data Points Context window opens. Highlight the field (or fields), and select the right arrow to move the field to the Included section (this marks the field as required). For example, select Diagnosis and select the right arrow to move it to the Included section. Continue moving any additional fields, if necessary. Select OK. The fields selected as required, display in the Field Name section. To apply the fields selected as required to all practices, select Apply to all practices, if appropriate. Setting Up Required fields for Order Processing

For more efficient order processing and best clinical practices, your practice may need to set up certain fields as required. For example, your practice wants the Diagnosis field to be required when ordering a lab or radiology test. The NextGen® Enterprise EHR Orders module enables you to select fields as required in File Maintenance Practice Preferences. Required fields can be set up for all of the order types, that is, Lab, Radiology, and Immunizations. Once you set up these fields as required, they will display in Red on the appropriate Orders or Immunizations window, when you add or update an existing order. Before an order can be saved, users must ensure that these required fields have been entered or selected. Set up Required Fields to Display When Creating an Immunizations Order

In File Maintenance, select System > Practices. Double-click to open a Practice and then select Preferences. Select Orders Module, and then select All tab. To set the fields as mandatory when creating a creating an Immunization order, select When creating new Immunization order from the Data Points Context list. Select the Effective Date to indicate what date the field displays the field as required, and select the Open Record button. The Data Points Context window opens. To mark the field as required, highlight the field (or fields), and select the right arrow to move the field to the Included section. For example, highlight Registry and select the right arrow to move it to the Included section. The field appears in the Included section.
