Set Up Other Required Orders fields

Select File Maintenance > Master Files > System > EHR > Practices > Preferences > Orders Module. Select All tab. The Mandatory Data Points options appear. To display the required fields for a certain order action, such as creating a lab order, in the Data Points Context field select the appropriate order action. Select the Effective Date to indicate what date the field displays as required, if necessary. Select the Open Record button. The Data Points Context window opens. Highlight the field (or fields), and select the right arrow to move the field to the Included section (this marks the field as required). For example, select Diagnosis and select the right arrow to move it to the Included section. Continue moving any additional fields, if necessary. Select OK. The fields selected as required, display in the Field Name section. To apply the fields selected as required to all practices, select Apply to all practices, if appropriate. Copy Required Fields from Another Practice

You can copy required fields from one practice to another. In the Mandatory Data Points section, select the appropriate practice in the Copy from Practice field. Note: The system displays a warning message that all your required fields set for the current practice will be deleted. Select OK to proceed. The required fields now display for the current practice in the Field Name section. For example, if you selected Route as a required field when creating an Immunization order in the practice you copied from, it now displays in the current practice as a required field. Setting Up Required fields for Order Processing

For more efficient order processing and best clinical practices, your practice may need to set up certain fields as required. For example, your practice wants the Diagnosis field to be required when ordering a lab or radiology test. The NextGen® Enterprise EHR Orders module enables you to select fields as required in File Maintenance Practice Preferences. Required fields can be set up for all of the order types, that is, Lab, Radiology, and Immunizations. Once you set up these fields as required, they will display in Red on the appropriate Orders or Immunizations window, when you add or update an existing order. Before an order can be saved, users must ensure that these required fields have been entered or selected. In File Maintenance, select System > Practices. Double-click to open a Practice and then select Preferences. Select Orders Module, and then select All tab. In File Maintenance, select System > Practices. Double-click to open a Practice, and then select Preferences. Select Orders Module, and then select All tab. To set the fields as mandatory when administering an Immunization order, select When completing vaccine administration from the Data Points Context list. Select the Effective Date to indicate what date the field displays the field as required, and select the Open Record button. The Data Points Context window opens. To mark the field as required, highlight the field (or fields), and select the right arrow to move the field to the Included section. For example, highlight Route and select the right arrow to move it to the Included section. The field appears in the Included section. Copy a Procedure Group from Another Practice

Open the Manage Procedure Groups and Codes practice template. In the From field, select a practice name. In the To field, select the practice name. Click Copy. Note: If the From and To fields on the template have the same practice populated, clicking the Copy button prompts the following alert: “ In order to copy a practice Procedure Group, the ‘From’ practice location must be different from the ‘To’ practice location. ” The system displays a confirmation window before copying data from one practice to another: “ Copying data from one practice to another overwrites the current data in that practice. Do you want to proceed?? Click Yes to proceed. Click the Save button from the top toolbar. Click the Close button from the toolbar to return to your regular workflow.
