Orders Allergy Tests on the Testing - Allergy Template
You can order for Prick, ID, and Challenge tests in the Prick/ID/Challenge Test panel.
- Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
- Open the Testing - Allergy template.
- In the Orders section of the Prick/ID/Challenge Test panel, select Add.
The Allergy Orders template opens.
- Select the Description field.
The diagnosis search window opens.
- To enter the diagnosis, do one of the following:
- If you have entered a diagnosis for this encounter, select Patient’s Diagnoses in the left panel.
Note: The current diagnoses for the patient appear in the right panel.
- If you have not yet entered a patient diagnoses, select All Diagnoses in the left panel, enter a search term in the search field, and select Search.
Note: A list of matching diagnoses appears in the right panel.
- If you have entered a diagnosis for this encounter, select Patient’s Diagnoses in the left panel.
- Select a diagnosis from the right panel.
The Allergy Orders template opens and NextGen® Enterprise EHR automatically fills the Description and Code fields.
- Add a Status for the diagnosis.
- Select one of the following for Test Type:
- Prick
- ID
- Challenge
- Do one or both of the following:
- To place an order when you select a row and to add it to the grid, select Place order on row select.
Note: If you select the Place order on row select, you do not have to select Order. The allergen is added to the Allergy Test Ordered grid as soon as you select it in the list.
- To add all allergens in the selected category to the Allergy Tests Ordered panel when you select Order, select Order allergens by category.
Note: If you select both the Place order on row select and the Order allergens by category check boxes, all allergens in a category are added to the Allergy Tests Ordered panel when you select a category in the left panel. - To place an order when you select a row and to add it to the grid, select Place order on row select.
- Select a category of allergens from the left pane.
The grid fills with the list of allergens for the selected category.
- Select one or more allergens from the grid.
Note: You can add a maximum of twenty allergens per category.
- Select Order to add the selected allergens to the Allergy Test Ordered grid with a status of ordered.
When the ordered test is performed and results are entered, the system changes the status to Performed. Finally, when the provider enters an evaluation of the results, the status is changed to Completed.
- Select Save & Close.
All the ordered tests display in the Orders section.
