Orders Allergy Tests on the Testing - Allergy Template

You can order for Prick, ID, and Challenge tests in the Prick/ID/Challenge Test panel.

  1. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
  2. Open the Testing - Allergy template.
  3. In the Orders section of the Prick/ID/Challenge Test panel, select Add.

  4. Select the Description field.
    The diagnosis search window opens.

  5. To enter the diagnosis, do one of the following:
    • If you have entered a diagnosis for this encounter, select Patient’s Diagnoses in the left panel.
    • If you have not yet entered a patient diagnoses, select All Diagnoses in the left panel, enter a search term in the search field, and select Search.
  6. Select a diagnosis from the right panel.
    The Allergy Orders template opens and NextGen® Enterprise EHR automatically fills the Description and Code fields.
  7. Add a Status for the diagnosis.
  8. Select one of the following for Test Type:
    • Prick
    • ID
    • Challenge
  9. Do one or both of the following:
    • To place an order when you select a row and to add it to the grid, select Place order on row select.
    • To add all allergens in the selected category to the Allergy Tests Ordered panel when you select Order, select Order allergens by category.
  10. Select a category of allergens from the left pane.
    The grid fills with the list of allergens for the selected category.
  11. Select one or more allergens from the grid.
  12. Select Order to add the selected allergens to the Allergy Test Ordered grid with a status of ordered.
    When the ordered test is performed and results are entered, the system changes the status to Performed. Finally, when the provider enters an evaluation of the results, the status is changed to Completed.
  13. Select Save & Close.
    All the ordered tests display in the Orders section.
