The Tare Weight link allows you to record tare weight of durable medical equipment such as wheelchair, walkers, and so on to calculate the actual weight of the children with special needs. The tare weight data does not display any other template or grid, nor does it print on any document.
- Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
- Open a patient's record, and then open an encounter.
- On Top Toolbar, select Templates
.

- Enter total weight of the patient, including weight of the durable medical equipment, in the lb field or kg field. Depending on the field you enter the weight in, the value in another field calculates automatically.

You can enter data in the Object field if you plan to save the object and the related weight to the grid for future use.
- Enter Tare Weight of the medical equipment in the lb field or kg field. Depending on the field you enter the weight in, the value in another field calculates automatically.
The application calculates the actual weight of the patient by taking the difference between the Total Weight and Tare Weight, and then displays the calculated weight in the Patient Weight fields.
- Click Add to save data in the grid for future use.
Note: You can add a record using the existing medical equipment in the grid by selecting a record in the grid and add or update the values in the applicable fields to calculate the patient's weight.
