Record Cancer Staging Details

Open the Histories - Dermatology template. In the Skin Cancer Log panel, in the Staging section, click Add.The Cancer Details template opens. In the Cancer Type section, do the following: Select the cancer type as Primary or Secondary. Do one of the following: To enter the details in all the fields, select Enable free text check box. To select the options from the respective picklist for each field, clear Enable free text. Select a diagnosis or click Add common assessment to select a diagnosis. Click Cancer Type / Site and select the cancer type from the Cancer Type Details template. Enter or select the Status and Behavior value from the picklist. Enter or select the Histology and Laterality value from the picklist. In the Cancer Staging section, do the following: If staging details are not available, select the appropriate option: Staging pending Insufficient data No staging system If the staging details are available, verify and update the date and time of cancer staging. Document the Excision of a Skin Cancer

On the day of the excision procedure, the intake staff follows a standard intake workflow specifying the specialty as Dermatology and visit type as Surgical Visit. The intake staff records demographic and medical information following the guidelines established by the practice. On the Home Page - Dermatology template, review the patient information entered by the intake staff. On the Histories template, review the patient information and add information, if necessary. On the SOAP template, do the following: In the Reason for Visit panel, document complete details of the reason for visit or add additional reasons for visits, if necessary. In the Review of Systems panel, click Derm - ROS, and fill in the details in the Dermatology -ROS template. On the SOAP template, go to the bottom of the template and select the Procedures icon. Skin Cancer Treatment Workflow

When the pathology report indicates the presence of skin cancer, you must first record the pathology results on the Skin Cancer History Log - Derm template. The application then places a record for the skin cancer in the Skin Cancer Log Treatment History grid and the Untreated Skin Cancer alert appears in the patient's chart and will remain until you report that the skin cancer has been treated. You can document when and how a patient was notified of pathology results on the Biopsy Log or the Order Management templates. This information is visible in order. After the lesion has been treated, the application updates the Skin Cancer Log Treatment History grid to indicate that the lesion has been treated and removes the Untreated Skin Cancer alert, if there are no other untreated skin cancers. Click the Add button under the Treatment History grid to open the Skin Cancer History Log - Derm template. Click the Add button under the Staging grid to open the Cancer Type template. Information can be added to the Skin Cancer History Log panel using the Pathology Results template. Click the Path Results in the navigation bar to open the Pathology Results template. View Derm Patient Path Records for Skin Cancer

Select the specialty Dermatology and perform a search for all pathology order records for a patient. Highlight a record in the Pathology Orders grid. The details of the selected record display in the Pathology Results panel of the Biopsy Log. Navigate to the Skin Cancer Log panel. The Skin Cancer Log grid displays skin cancer history pathology records for the patient, and can be filtered with the Skin cancer history options: To view only the records for untreated cancer, select Skin cancer history: Untreated option. Update a Dermatology Order for Pathology

For Dermatology patients, if the revised diagnosis is malignant and you enter the updated diagnosis into the Diagnosis field in the Pathology Results section, the same diagnosis appears in the Skin Cancer Log grid on the Biopsy Log and on the Home Page. Select the Dermatology specialty, and perform a search for Dermatology orders. Highlight a Dermatology order in the Pathology Orders grid. Information in the row displays in the fields of the Pathology Results section for Dermatology patients. Click the Accession # field and type the accession number or case number assigned by the laboratory for the specimen. Click the Specimen ID field and select the specimen ID letter assigned to the specimen. Click the Diagnosis field and use the diagnosis search tool to select the diagnosis suggested by the laboratory report. Click the Recommended Treatment field and select the recommended treatment from the list. If you have not treated the lesion, select No for the Lesion has been treated question
