Patient Tracking in the Provider Workflow

You can update the patient tracking details using the Patient Tracking on the Patient Information Card (PIC). You can select the Patient Tracking button on the Patient Information Card (PIC) and update the tracking details on the Todays Patient Tracking template. Patient Tracking is available only when the patient has an active encounter dated Today. For all other encounters, the Patient Tracking button appears as New Encounter. You can hover over the Patient Tracking button to view a quick summary of the patient tracking records for the visit on the PIC. Before starting the patient assessment on the SOAP template, you can indicate that the patient is with the provider by changing the status to with provider in the Todays Patient Tracking template. When the patient assessment is completed, you can change the status to ready for check-out. Update Patient Tracking

You can document the patient's location and status during the course of the encounter using Patient Tracking. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. On the Patient Information Card (PIC), select Patient Tracking. The Todays Patient Tracking template opens. Select a room. Select the patient's status. View Status and Location of Patients

You can view the status and location of a patient. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. On the Patient Information Card, select the Patient Tracking button. Note: Patient Tracking is available only when the patient has an active encounter dated Today. For all other encounters, the Patient Tracking button appears as New Encounter. The Todays Patient Tracking template opens. Select EHR Appointments.The Patient Appointments template opens. Note: The When, Provider, and Location fields contain the current date and time, provider name, and practice location. In the View section, select By Provider to turn on the Add and Search buttons. View Status and Location of a Patient

Patient Tracking is optional. The intake staff can proceed with the workflow without documenting the appointment details. If the patient’s status changes, this will be visible on the Inbox. It is generally not necessary to send a task regarding a change in status. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select the Patient Tracking button on the Patient Information Card. Note: Patient Tracking is available only when the patient has an active encounter dated Today. For all other encounters, the Patient Tracking button appears as New Encounter. View a Patient's Appointments

You can view a patient's appointments using the Patient Appointment template. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. On the Patient Information Card, select the Patient Tracking button. Note: Patient Tracking is available only when the patient has an active encounter dated Today. For all other encounters, the Patient Tracking button appears as New Encounter. The Todays Patient Tracking template opens. Select EHR Appointments.The Patient Appointments template opens. Patient Appointments The When, Provider, and Location fields contain the current date and time, provider name, and practice location. In the View section, select the By Provider option to turn on the Add and Search buttons if the permission is granted in the System Administrator application. Update Checkout Status of Patients

After you complete a patient's checkout process, you can update the status on the Todays Patient Tracking template. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select a patient record. On the Patient Information Card, select the Patient Tracking button. Note: Patient Tracking is available only when the patient has an active encounter dated Today. For all other encounters, the Patient Tracking button appears as New Encounter. The Todays Patient Tracking template opens with the status and location of the patient during the encounter.
