Obtaining Test or Code Information for a Documented Screening on the Screening Tools Template

You can obtain the test or code information for a documented screenings to satisfy a care guideline. The screenings that are documented on the Screening Tools template grid is uploaded to the order_ table. So in most cases, these can be mapped to care guidelines. The mapped screening items do not use codes, instead they use the description of the screening to complete the guideline, so it is important to make sure the spelling is correct in these instances. The guideline type needs to match exactly (MPROT = Screening), therefore some guidelines may not complete with this setup. For example, trying to use a screening to satisfy a lab-based guideline does not work correctly. Obtaining Test or Code Information for Vaccines

You can review the test or code information for vaccines using the Vaccine Orders or Inventory list in File Maintenance. Updated CPT® codes for vaccines are published in advance, especially for common or seasonal items like the influenza vaccine. If the information is not available, you can review the Vaccine Orders/Inventory list in File Maintenance to note the vaccines and corresponding CPT codes. For specific patients, the vaccine CPT® can also be retrieved from the Immunizations module. Custom Templates with Custom Order Triggers

You can customize the templates with custom order triggers to satisfy a care guideline. If you have a customized template that are not NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine templates, and is used to upload the completed orders for patients, it is still possible to map test or code information to update care guidelines. While individual table or template fields cannot be used, almost any order that is submitted from a template with an Upload Extended Data trigger to the order_ table can be mapped to update a guideline. Review the details of the triggers on the template to obtain the test or code information being inserted to the order_ table. Also verify that the details of the Upload Extended Data trigger are correct and valid for the guideline that is being updated. You can obtain test or code information to map with the corresponding care guidelines on the practice templates. If it is available, obtain a list of the specific CPT® or test codes and descriptions that are used by your practice for each guideline. If the list is not available, you can review the procedures in this step to gather the codes and descriptions that are required to map the tests to guidelines. After the information is gathered, the tests can then be mapped to the corresponding guideline. Note: After you have the information for the test codes and descriptions to be mapped to corresponding care guidelines, you can proceed to mapping the codes on the practice templates. Set Up Tests and Orders to Update Care Guidelines

You can set up tests and orders to update care guidelines for a patient. A care guideline status is updated to completed when all of the following conditions are met: The ordering code (or description) is added to the guideline's list of Interventions/Test Equivalent Codes/Descriptions. The completed order type for the patient matches with the guideline type that is set. For example, lab guidelines will only update from lab orders. The order has both a valid Completed Date or Received Date along with a Completed or Results Received status. Mapping can be used to set up tests and orders to update guidelines, simplifying workflow in the process. After you have acquired the codes and descriptions for each guideline, they need to be added as mappings to the care guidelines setup for the practice.
