Fields Used to Support Clinical Decisions

Field	Description
Developer	Used to support clinical decisions. This is not a mandatory field. The Developer field is used to identify who added or updated the reference. When you select any care guideline reference from the grid that has been packaged by NextGen Healthcare and if you haven’t configured the selected reference, the system displays the default value, nextgen healthcare, in the Developer field. Otherwise, it displays the respective developer’s name. When any other fields are updated for the selected care guideline in the template, Developer field gets cleared and can be updated with the developer name.
Funding Source	Used to support clinical decisions. This is not a mandatory field. The Funding Source field is used to identify the funding source of the reference. When you select any care guideline reference from the grid that has been packaged by NextGen Healthcare and if you haven’t configured the selected reference, the system populates the default value, NextGen Healthcare, in the Funding Source field. Otherwise it displays the respective funding source’s name. When any other fields are updated for the selected care guideline in the template, the Funding Source field gets cleared and can be updated with the funding source name.
Reference Updated	Used to support clinical decisions. When you select any reference from the grid, by default, the Reference Updated field automatically populates with the last build date if you have not updated or created the reference. When any other fields are updated for the selected reference in the template, the Reference Updated field automatically populates with the current date.

Add a Clinical Reference

On the Assessment Plan Customization template, Order Sets (My Plan/Custom Plan) section, select any item in the grid to open the Provider's Custom Plan template. Select any Department for any Diagnosis Group. Note: It is recommended that you copy the reference used to all departments in that same Diagnosis Group in order to maintain continuity. It is also important to ensure that there is at least one test in the Diagnosis Group. For example, at least one item populates in the lab tests, diagnostics, office medications, office procedures, office supplies, office labs, instructions, or additional orders. Select Manage References to open the Manage References template.In the Order Type filters, Lab Tests is selected by default. Care Guidelines System

The Care Guidelines system helps the provider and patients to take care of their health maintenance and chronic diseases. You can open the Care Guidelines template using the Care Guidelines link on the template header. It provides both a schedule of typically followed items such as immunizations, diagnostic studies, labs, and so on. The care guidelines system tracks recommendations about medications and goals that might be applicable for the patient's chronic conditions. The care guidelines system is highly configurable. The Care Guidelines system helps to carry out the functions of Health Maintenance and Disease Management testing and Health Monitor. View a Clinical Reference for Guideline Items

You can view the clinical references for a recommended care and care guideline orderable items on the Activate Care Guidelines template. You can view the web-based clinical reference for recommended care and care guideline orderable items. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select the Care Guidelines link on any of the main template.The Care Guidelines template opens. Select Add/Update in the Care Guidelines panel. The Activate Care Guidelines template opens. Select a care guideline item and select the Web button.You can view the addresses of guideline clinical references from the Care Guidelines panel on the Care Guidelines grid view template. Configure Intervention Attributes and Reference Information

You can configure the source attributes to satisfy the decision support intervention on a specific intervention or test using the Attributes View and Management template. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. From File, select System \ Practice Template.The Select Template window opens. On the Practice tab, select the All option. Select Care Guideline Setup, and then select OK.The Care Guideline Setup practice template opens. Expand the Intervention/Orders Setup panel, select a record in the data grid, and then select the Attributes/Feedback link.The Attributes View and Management template opens. Note: The Attributes/Feedback link is available in the left navigation bar on the Care Guidelines Paged View template. Diagnosis Groups and Code Lists

The fields in the relational gray box at the top of the panel populate in the Add Diagnosis Group grid upon Add/Update. On selection, if the Diagnosis Group field has a duplicate value in the grid, an alert displays. Note: You cannot update a NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine packaged diagnosis group. You have to select a unique group name and save again. The Clear button removes the data from all of the fields above and removes the highlight from the grid row. There are two view options for the grid: View all diagnosis groups View only diagnosis groups created or modified today. You can also filter by Reference System or by selecting All, Active, or Inactive in the Show field. Recommended Care Practice Template

The Recommended Care practice template enables you to create or modify recommended care guidelines for your practice. These care guidelines are based on chronic conditions. When a chronic condition is added to a patient's chart, the associated care guidelines display in the Care Guidelines template. You create these care guidelines using the Recommended Care practice template. The guideline may include specific goals, statuses, and compliance items. When you select a row in the Recommended Care grid, the associated goal, status, and compliance details appear in the corresponding grids on the right. Goals: Provide parameters for a patient to meet when following a particular guideline. Status: Provides status for a guideline to determine if it is a new guideline or an existing one that might be changed.
