Documenting Efficacy of Drug Therapy

You can review and enter information about medications prescribed for the patient or discontinued in the Drug Therapy panel. On the Medications module, medications available for the patient appear in the Drug Therapy panel. Document Pediatric Drug History

You can document the drug history of a pediatric patient. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. To open the Peds Confidential History - Substances template, do one of the following: In the Social panel on the Histories template, click the Confidential History link. In the History Summary panel on the Intake template, click the Confidential link. In the Drug Use/Abuse section, indicate if the patient uses drugs. If you select Yes or Formerly, then do the following: Document the drug type, frequency, and the route of taking drugs. To indicate that the patient has quit taking a drug, select the Quit checkbox near the respective drug. Indicate if the patient has sought treatment for drug abuse. If you select Yes, then enter the number of times the patient was treated and the date of the last drug treatment, then select the Outpatient or Inpatient checkbox to document the type of treatment. Document a Patient's Drug Use

You can document the drug use of a patient on the Confidential – Alcohol/Drug template. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Histories template. In the Social panel, select the Confidential History link. The Confidential - Alcohol/Drug template opens displaying the links to the confidential templates, in the left pane. In the Drug Use/Abuse section, indicate the patient's use of drugs. If you select No, no other documentation is required in this section. If you select Yes or Formerly, enter the age at which patient had started using drugs, the drug type, frequency of drug use, and route. If the patient had used the drug earlier and has now quit, select Quit. Select Yes or No to indicate if the patient has sought treatment for drug abuse. If you select Yes, enter the number of times the patient is treated and the date of the last treatment. Select Outpatient or Inpatient to indicate the type of treatment. Document Medications

You can document the medications to prescribe to a patient using the Medications module. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Intake or SOAP template. In the Medications panel, select Add/Update.The Medications module opens. Select Prescribe New.The Medication Search template opens. Search for and select a medicine from the list. Enter the Sig, Quantity, Refills, and Start date details. Select the Prescribed elsewhere checkbox, if applicable. Select Accept. Close the Medications module. Note: If applicable, you can select the Comment link to open the Medication Comment template. You must not use the Medication Comment template to list medications the patient is consuming. You can use the Medication Comment template as a temporary location to list all the unknown medications the patient is consuming along with the dosage and sig details. View Medication Specific Details in the Care Guidelines Paged View Template

You can view the medication specific details in the Care Guidelines Paged View template. Before you begin You must configure an order for the created medication guideline, and add a problem and the medication details to view the medication specific details in the Care Guidelines Paged Viewtemplate. In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, select Open Template for an encounter.The Select Template window opens. Select All, and then select Care Guidelines Paged View. Care Guidelines Paged View template The configured medication details appear. Select Refresh if the configured medication details are not available.The details configured in the Medications module must match the values in the Medication Specific template for the guidelines to appear in the Care Guidelines Paged View template.
