Document Specimen Collection Details
- On the ASC-Intraprocedure template, go to the Specimen Collection panel, and select Add.
The ASC Specimen Collection template opens.
- Enter the following specimen collection details:
- Send to
- Method
- Type
- Qty
- To enter the Location where the specimen was obtained, do one of the following:
- To add a single location, select a value from the list and select Cancel.
- To add more than one location, select a value from the list, select OK to select another location, and then select Cancel to close the list.
The selected options concatenate in the Location field separated by commas. The maximum character limit of the field is 100. An alert message appears if you exceed the maximum limit of characters in the Location field. - Select the Container the specimen is stored in from the list.
The system displays the following fields with data from the corresponding procedure documented in the Procedure panel.
- Procedure
- Pre procedure diagnosis description
- Code
- Pre Procedure Indication
The system displays the Ordering provider field with the provider selected in the Rendering provider field in the General panel.
- To change the fields that have been displayed automatically, simply select the field and select a value from the list.
Note: If you change the values of the fields appearing from other templates, the updates only apply to the fields on the ASC Specimen Collection template.
The Order priority field defaults to Routine.
- (Optional) Select the Order priority field to select the appropriate value from the list.
- To change the ordering provider, select Ordering provider and select the appropriate provider from the list.
- If you change the value in the Ordering provider field, the system does not update the value in the Rendering provider field in the General panel.
- Select a Lab test description from the list.
The Lab test code field appears with the corresponding code for the selected lab test description.
- Enter any additional information in the Comments field.
- To place the pathology order, select the Place order checkbox.
The Ordered column displays a value of Yes in the Specimen Collection grid.
- Select the Add New button is used to save and clear the data from all the fields to add data.
- Select Save & Close to close the ASC Specimen Collection template and upload specimen collection details to the grid in the Specimen Collection panel.
