Document Passive Exposure

Recording passive smoke exposure is not a Quality Reporting requirement, nor does it record a patient’s smoking status in Quality Reporting.

1. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
2. To open the Social History – Tobacco template, do one of the following:
   • On the Histories template, expand the Social panel, and select Add/Edit.
   • In the History Summary panel on the Intake template, select Social, select Tobacco/Vaping Use, and select Add/Edit.
   The Social History – Tobacco template opens.
3. Expand the Passive Exposure panel.
4. In Have you ever had passive smoke exposure, select the applicable option.
   If you select No/Never, go to step 10. Otherwise, go to step 5.
5. In Exposure in home environment, select Yes or No.
6. In Other exposure locations, add other locations of passive exposure.
7. In Tobacco type, select all tobacco types the patient is exposed to.
8. In Length of exposure, enter how long the patient is exposed to passive smoke.
9. Select a level of exposure.
10. In Have you ever had passive vaping exposure, select Yes or No.
11. In the Comments field, enter additional details that may be helpful in documenting passive exposure.
12. Select OK.
