Dynamic HPI Config Practice Template

The Dynamic HPI Config practice template enables you to configure elements for the dynamic History of Present Illness (HPI) templates. Each dynamic HPI template is linked to a specific reason for visit. The dynamic HPI templates that are packaged with NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine can be modified to meet the specific needs of a practice. If there is a need for a custom reason for visit, the practice can create a custom template. Data sets for labs, diagnostics, and procedures can be configured in the Section and Finding sections. New sections such as family history, lab data, and diagnostic data can be configured for a reason for visit. The new sections appear in the dynamic HPI template in the left pane under the Reason field in run time. The Contradiction setup link enables you to create guidelines that prevent users from selecting clinically contradictory findings. Dynamic HPI Contradictions Config Practice Template

The Dynamic HPI Contradictions Config template is designed to prevent you from selecting clinically contradictory terms in the same section or sub-section of a dynamic HPI. For example, you would not want to document a Quality of Mass as tender and non-tender in the same patient encounter. By making these values mutually exclusive, the system prevents the user from accidentally selecting the opposing terminology simultaneously. Any practice can use the Dynamic HPI Contradictions Config template to manually create new, mutually exclusive selections, and modify or remove existing pairs. Contradictions can also be matched automatically by selecting the Automatically match similar contradictions link. The practice template contains two grids: Findings and contradictions: Lists content items and their contradictions within a specific section or sub-section. Add a New DHPI Test Code to a Data Set

The DHPI Test Codes data set on Data Sets Setup practice template enables you to apply synonyms for the code or description of tests that are used on dynamic HPI templates. In NextGen® Enterprise, from the File menu, click the System/Practice Template. The Select Template window appears. Click the Practice tab and under Show, click All. Double-click Data Sets Setup to open the practice template. In the Data Set field, click to select DHPI Test Codes from the list. The codes and descriptions associated with the DHPI Test Codes data set appear in the grid. Click Add. The Template Data Sets Setup - [New Record] template appears. Click Test. A list with all the test names currently available in the system appears. Do one of the following: Select a name from the list, and then click OK. Select the blank line near the top of the list to enter a new value, and then click OK to type the name in the Test field. Enter either the Code or Description. Test Code Data Sets

Each item in the Test Codes data set maps a code or description to a test item. Mapping enables you to assign a more commonly used description or code to a test. More than one mapping can be configured for a test. In the following example, we examine an ECG procedure and how the Test Codes data set works in the NextGen® Enterprise. The following is a list of the test descriptions or test codes that are mapped to the test ECG: Electrocardiogram ECG Computer Analysis Only EKG ECG 93000 93010 G04003 G0405 G8704 Each value represents one row in the Test Codes data set. If the Test Code of ECG maps to the ECG test in the Protocols data set, the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine order_ table is used to verify the test status (in some cases, the system may also check the Procedures module). If the Test Code of ECG maps to the ECG record in the Test Date data set, the Test Type of the Test Date record indicates which database table to use to verify the test status. You can manage History of Present Illness (HPI) sections and findings in the dynamic format on five practice templates and one system template. Configuring Data Sets

Configuring data sets for diagnostics, labs, and procedure test codes makes it easier for users to find the codes specific to their needs. Test codes in the dynamic HPI templates do not have to be hard coded. The Dynamic HPI Config practice template links the test code data sets and makes them available on the dynamic HPI templates.
