Create a Procedure Group

Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Manage Procedure Groups and Codes practice template. In the Add Procedure Group section, Procedure Group field, type the new group name. Click the Description field to manually create a value. If required, select the Restrict Code option. Click Add/Update. The new Procedure Group displays in the grid. Note: If you have selected a grid row and want to enter another new group, click Clear. Click Save from the toolbar. Click Close from the toolbar to return to your regular workflow. Open the Manage Procedure Groups and Codes Practice Template

Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. From the File menu, select System \ Practice Template. On the Select Template window, click the Practice tab. In the Show section, select All to see a complete list of practice templates. To access the Manage Procedure Groups and Codes practice template, do one of the following: Double-click Manage Procedure Groups and Codes. Update an Existing Procedure Group

The Manage Procedure Groups and Codes practice template grid is filled with default content for the applied version associated with NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. You cannot remove any procedure groups that exist in the pre-packaged content. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Manage Procedure Groups and Codes practice template. Select the existing Procedure Group from the grid. In the Add Procedure Group section, type the name of the Procedure Group that is different from the existing name and the Description without selecting the Restrict Code check box. Do one of the following actions: Click Clear to remove the data without saving. Click Add/Update to enter the new values into the grid. Click Save from the toolbar. Click Close from the toolbar to return to your regular workflow. Note: You may also add or remove codes or service categories to existing procedure groups. Manage Hard-Coded Procedure Codes

You can use the Manage Procedure Groups and Codes practice template during the annual CPT® and HCPCS code updates to replace the hard-coded CPT, HCPCS, and SIMS codes with procedure groups or a default code. In addition, you can create procedure groups using Service Categories from File Maintenance. Important: The Manage Procedure Groups and Codes template can only be used to update or replace an expired procedure code with a new code if the new code is a one-to-one direct mapping from the expired code and if the description of the new code is changed to the extent that there are new criteria required for the documentation to support the code, you will need to make the necessary changes on the template to accommodate for sufficient documentation. Copy Required Fields from Another Practice

You can copy required fields from one practice to another. In the Mandatory Data Points section, select the appropriate practice in the Copy from Practice field. Note: The system displays a warning message that all your required fields set for the current practice will be deleted. Select OK to proceed. The required fields now display for the current practice in the Field Name section. For example, if you selected Route as a required field when creating an Immunization order in the practice you copied from, it now displays in the current practice as a required field.
