Recording the pathology results details. Intake Staff Workflow to Schedule a Biopsy Encounter When the provider determines that a biopsy is required, the intake staff follows the required procedure. Schedule a Biopsy Encounter on the SOAP Template You can schedule a biopsy encounter on the SOAP template. Schedule a Biopsy Encounter with GET You can schedule a biopsy encounter on the GET template. Document a Biopsy Procedure You can document procedure for a patient with a specific complaint on whom you expect to perform a biopsy. Skin Cancer Treatment Workflow

When the pathology report indicates the presence of skin cancer, you must first record the pathology results on the Skin Cancer History Log - Derm template. The application then places a record for the skin cancer in the Skin Cancer Log Treatment History grid and the Untreated Skin Cancer alert appears in the patient's chart and will remain until you report that the skin cancer has been treated. You can document when and how a patient was notified of pathology results on the Biopsy Log or the Order Management templates. This information is visible in order. After the lesion has been treated, the application updates the Skin Cancer Log Treatment History grid to indicate that the lesion has been treated and removes the Untreated Skin Cancer alert, if there are no other untreated skin cancers. Biopsy/Destruction/Shave - Procedures

The Bx/Destruction/Shave link opens the Biopsy/Destruction/Shave - Procedures template. Use this template to perform a biopsy, destruction or shave procedure. You can document the following details. Pre-procedure care includes verification of consent, identification of the correct patient, a location and confirmation that the patient received, and procedure-related information. Procedure care enables you to view each procedure scheduled for the current patient and to enter procedure-related details. This template provides two different grid views, one for non-biopsy-proven procedures and one for biopsy-proven malignancies. Follow-up care enables you to record if complications occurred, how the patient tolerated the procedure, and if a follow-up is necessary. View Pathology Results on the Biopsy Log Templates

On the Intake - Dermatology or GET template, click the Biopsy Log link. Note: You can also access the Biopsy Log template from the File > System \ Practice. The Biopsy Log template opens without any records. Click Specialty and select Dermatology from the resulting list.When you search, the application only displays search results of dermatology encounters. In the Pathology Order Search panel, enter your search criteria, and click Search.Records are available on the grid based on your search criteria. Note: The application only loads the first 100 records. If the record you are searching for does not appear among the records loaded, you must enter additional search criteria to narrow your search results. Select the record for the patient.The Pathology Orders section displays data for the selected record. Track Biopsy Specimens Using the Biopsy Log

The Biopsy Log is the master list that stores records of all biopsies for the entire practice. To use the log, you specify a specialty and enter a variety of search criteria, for example, all patients seen by a specific provider on a specific date. The system displays all the biopsy records for patient encounters within the specialty that meet the search criteria. The Biopsy Log enables you to view pathology results for a patient. From the Biopsy Log, you can: Update the order, including the diagnosis. Send tasks regarding the order or results to staff members. Generate and save a benign pathology letter within the encounter. Record how and when a patient was notified of results. Submit to Superbill - This function is available to Dermatology and Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) specialties, and allows the charge for reading the pathology to be submitted by pathologists to the Superbill. Pathology Results Notifications

You can document when and how a patient was notified of pathology results on the Biopsy Log and Order Management templates and have this information visible in sequential order. You can indicate the date of notification and how the patient was notified. This functionality removes the need to navigate to the Telephone Call template.
