Display Axes DSM IV in Behavioral Health Documents

A practice-level setting is available on both the Practice Configuration and Documentation Configuration templates to determine which set of data (DSM IV or DSM-5) prints on generated documents. The settings applied on either practice template are shared and do not need to be repeated. From the File menu, select System/Practice Template. Click the Practice tab and set Show to All. Do one of the following: Practice Configuration Documentation Configuration In the Behavioral Health section, DSM IV Axes/DSM-5 Document Display Options row, select the option to Display axes (DSM IV) in the Assessment/Diagnosis section of the Behavioral Health documents. Configuration Options in Behavioral Health Section

You can make changes to options available in the Behavioral Health section. The configuration in the Behavioral Health section applies to the Behavioral Health specialty. Behavioral Health section The Behavioral Health section allows you to configure the following: DSM IV/DSM-5 Assessment/Diagnosis Template Display Options - On selecting the Show DSM IV link checkbox, the DSM IV link appears on the upper-right corner of the Assessment/Diagnosis panel. The link opens the BH- DSM IV template, based on the DSM IV version of the Assessment/Diagnosis panel. Assessment/Diagnosis panel DSM IV Axes/DSM - 5 Document Display Options - On selecting the Display axes (DSM IV) in the Assessment/Diagnosis section in the Behavioral Health documents checkbox, the documents generated from the encounters follow the DSM IV standard. DSM Options for Behavioral Health Documents

A practice-level setting is available on both the Practice Configuration and Document Configuration templates to determine which set of data (DSM IV or DSM-5) prints on generated documents. The settings applied on either practice template are shared and do not need to be repeated. Selecting the option to Display axes (DSM IV) in the Assessment/Diagnosis section of the Behavioral Health documents ensures that any information recorded on the BH - DSM IV template is included in the generated document for each encounter. Enable the DSM IV Link

To document using the DSM IV standards, you must first set up the DSM IV link to appear on the Assessment/Diagnosis panel. The DSM IV link can be enabled on the Practice Configuration or the Documentation Configuration practice templates. You do not need to apply this setting on both templates. The settings applied on either template are shared and do not need to be repeated. Select the File menu and click System/Practice Template. Click the Practice tab and set Show to All. Select one of the following: Practice Configuration Documentation Configuration Scroll down to the Behavioral Health section. Under DSM IV/DSM-5 Assessment/Diagnosis Template Display Options, select the Show DSM IV link option. Click Save and Close at the top right. Enter DSM IV Assessment Details The BH - DSM IV template is used to document DSM IV assessments. DSM IV Configuration

Your practice has the option of displaying the DSM IV link on the Assessment/Diagnosis panel to document encounters according to the DSM IV manual. This configuration can be enabled on the Practice Configuration template or the Document Configuration practice template. The settings applied on either practice template are shared and do not need to be repeated. Once enabled, the link is made available on the Assessment/Diagnosis panel found throughout the Behavioral Health template set. Figure 1. . Behavioral Health Common Assessment Page

The BH Assessment page that opens in the Add Common Assessment template includes the following updates for DSM-5: When the Practice Configuration practice template option to display a link for the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders Fourth Edition (DSM IV) is not selected, the Add Common Assessment template for Behavioral Health displays an updated grid and list (replacing the required, DSM IV, Axes lists). The Status list is not required. Users can cancel out of the list without making a selection. The list includes the following selections: Mild Moderate Severe Persistent Extreme The grid in the DSM-5 section includes the following headers: # Dx (Code) Status Severity Impression/Differential Dx Specifier The system is packaged with existing, common assessment, diagnosis code data formatted to appear on the Common Assessment template.
