On the
Eye Configuration
practice template, go to the
Exam Normal Findings
section.
Right-click the grid and select
Add new
.
The
oph_norm_findings_ex - [New Record]
template opens.
Select the
Exam Element
field and select the desired exam element from the list that opens.
Select the
Normal Finding
field and type free text to enter the finding that should also be considered normal.
Note:
This must be typed in exactly as it will be used on the exam templates.

Modify an Existing Normal Finding for an Exam Element
An exam element is an individual item that is examined during the encounter, such as pupils, Iris, Anterior Chamber or CVF (Confrontation Visual Fields). Values for normal findings for exam elements are listed in the grid. On the Eye Configuration practice template, go to the Exam Normal Findings section. To edit an existing normal finding, do one of the following: Double-click the row in the grid with the normal finding. Right-click the row and select Open. The oph_norm_findings_ex extended template opens and displays values from the row for Exam Element and Normal Finding. Ophthalmology Exam Findings
On Ophthalmology exam templates, there are defined exam elements for each type of exam. Clicking the data fields corresponding to an exam element opens a picklist of findings appropriate for that element. Normal Findings The normal finding for an element is the first item in the picklist. When a user selects the normal finding from the picklist, it appears in the field in black font. Abnormal Findings When a user selects any findings from the picklist other than the first one, they appear in the field in red font. Abnormal or different findings also appear in the Physical Exam Abnormals data grids, found on the Eye Summary template. This template is opened from the Provider - OPH tab template. Abnormal exam findings appear in the grids with an " !" to distinguish them from normal findings. If a normal default is changed in the Eye Configuration practice template, free-typing that finding causes the finding to appear in black font and not appear in the Physical Exam Abnormals grids on t

Updates Needed in Template Editor to Complete a New or Modified Normal Finding
Once you have completed making your modifications at the Exam Normal Findings grid on the Eye Configuration practice template, depending on the changes you have made, you are ready to do the next steps in Template Editor. Making changes on this data grid alone will not change the values for the exam findings when the normal defaults are selected within the exam templates and fields. The Exam Normal Findings section found at the bottom of the Eye Configuration practice template enables you to customize the wording for normal findings for individual elements of Ophthalmology exams.
