Create a Custom Group Encounter

From the New Group Encounter section of the Group Encounter Management (BH) template, select in the Patient Group field. The Group List picklist opens. From the Group List picklist, select a group and then select OK. The Patient Name grid displays the names of the group members. Note: If a client's name does not display in the list below, confirm the client has been added to the group member list. For more information, see Add Client Names to a Patient Group. Patient Name grid In the Enc Date field, enter the date of the group encounter. Note: You cannot create an encounter for a future date. To clear the Patient Group and Enc Date fields without saving, select Clear. Select New. The group custom encounter is created. You can now access the encounter in the Existing Group Encounters section. To modify the encounter, see Modify an Existing Group Encounter. Select Save and then close the template. Group Encounter Properties

When you create a new group encounter, the encounter properties are updated with the selected location and provider in the patient info bar. It is important that you confirm you have the correct Location and Provider selected prior to creating a new encounter from the Group Encounter Management (BH) template. Encounter Location and Provider When you select a program from the Group Prog Note (BH) template, the location on the encounter updates based on the program selection saved to the template. Modify an Existing Group Encounter

You can change an existing group encounter's date as well as time using the Group Encounter Management (BH) template. From the Existing Group Encounters section, select in the Patient Group field. A Group List picklist opens. From the Group List picklist, select the group name and then select OK. The most recent 15 encounters for that group are displayed under the Group Encounters section. Participant List grid Note: The Charge Qty and Document Qty columns in the Participant List grid displays a 1 when the encounter includes either a charge or a generated document for this client. If the Charge Qty displays a 1, then it is too late to change the encounter date. Group Encounter Management

The Group Encounter Management (BH) template enables you to modify existing group encounter dates or create new group encounters with any date (future dates not allowed). Unlike patient encounters that are patient-specific and cannot be applied to multiple patients at one time, a group encounter can be shared among multiple patients. Group encounters are commonly used in group therapy where multiple patients attend the same session at the same time. One of the main benefits of using a group encounter is that you can complete documentation for all members on a single note within the group encounter. Since the encounter is shared among multiple patients, the documentation can be seen from each patient’s chart. Certain templates have been designed specifically for group encounters and can only be accessed from within a group encounter such as the Group Progress Note (BH) template. Access the Group Therapy Progress Note

A new Group Encounter must be created to access the BH – Group Therapy Progress Note template. Alternatively, the group encounter may be opened from the NextGen® Enterprise PM application. Open Templates and Documents

You can open multiple templates and documents from one landing page using the Packet Navigation (BH) template. Note: When you open a template using a link from the Packet Navigation (BH) template, Packet Navigation is automatically saved to the encounter after closing it. You can configure the Packet Navigation on the BH Foundation Configuration template. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the Configuration Guide for NextGen® Behavioral Health Suite. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. For an encounter, select Open Template.The Select Template window opens. In the Medical Records tab, select Packet Navigation (BH).The Packet Navigation (BH) template opens. Select a Program.The landing page configured for the selected program opens. Packet Navigation template In the Time Entry Navigation sidebar, select Billing Time Entry, and then enter the start time.
