Every operating system receives security updates occasionally. it is best to keep up with these updates as they can affect any software, including Connect, installed on the system. If you are using a Mirth Appliance, follow the usual steps in the Control Panel to install Control Panel updates, otherwise use your operating system's updater to keep up with security updates. Today there are many Java distributions and they usually get frequent security updates. Since Connect runs in a Java Virtual Machine it is highly recommended to keep up to date on your Java security updates to ensure Connect and all data passing through it stays secure. If you are using a Mirth Appliance, follow the usual steps in the Control Panel to install an update, otherwise follow the update instructions for your particular flavor of Java. Mirth® Connect makes use of many libraries for various purposes and occasionally it is discovered that one or more of these libraries contains a security vulnerability. These vulnerabilities are dealt with either by updating the library, patching them in-house, or eliminating the library altogether. Once work has been completed, a new Mirth® Connect version will be released containing updates to mitigate the vulnerability so it is important to keep your version of Mirth® Connect up to date. When logging in to the Mirth Connect Administrator you will receive a message when a new version is available.
