This sample channel is intended as a starting point to teach you the basics of FHIR resources/interactions and how the FHIR Listener works with them. From here, feel free to tweak the destinations or add more as you see fit. The trial-use standard tells you what to do with resources (create them, update them, etc.), and you can use Mirth® Connect to customize the actual implementation however you wish. Adding the Configuration Map Properties

The example channel also relies on some configuration map properties to store database connection information. Sending Sample Requests

Once you've made any necessary tweaks to the channel or configuration map (like pointing it to your local database), save and deploy it. The FHIR Listener channel will be up and running, and you should be able to request the home page at the URL http://localhost:9001/r4/, or the conformance statement at the URL http://localhost:9001/r4/metadata. Note that the IP, port, or base context path may be different depending on your source connector settings. If you request a resource (like the conformance statement) in a web browser, it will return the HTML template with the resource narrative (if available): Image of the HTML template of the CapabilityStatement Resource Creating a Patient Resource After verifying the /metadata endpoint works correctly, try creating a new Patient resource. Convert HL7 to FHIR Patient - Example 1

Download the "Convert HL7 to FHIR Patient - Example 1.xml" file from Downloads, and import the channel Convert HL7 to FHIR Patient - Example 1.xml into your Mirth® Connect server. This channel includes the "HL7 v2.x to FHIR Helper Functions" code template library. If you already have that library imported, you may see a dialog asking whether or not you want to overwrite the library. To overwrite the library and all of its code templates, click the "Overwrite: All" link in the top-right, and then click Import. If you don't want to overwrite any libraries or code templates, click Cancel, then Yes when prompted to continue without importing. Then make sure the library is enabled for your newly imported channel: Once you've imported the channel, go to the Source tab, and click Edit Transformer to view the source transformer.
