This document provides recommendations for Mirth® Connect by NextGen Healthcare users on how to deploy Mirth® Connect by NextGen Healthcare within their Amazon Web Services (AWS) account. This includes a set of services and configurations for those services which focus on security, durability, and efficiency. This is a high-level guide for users who have a working knowledge of AWS and a general understanding of the identified services who want examples of known tested and working infrastructure to house Mirth® Connect by NextGen Healthcare in Amazon's cloud. Mirth® Connect by NextGen Healthcare Amazon Web Services (AWS) Preferred Deployment

Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS)

To create your Postgres database in AWS, first sign into your account and search for RDS in the AWS Management Console. Click Databases on the left sidebar. Click the orange Create database button on the top right side of the page. Now you can start selecting options for your new database. Select Standard Create to customize the database configuration. Select PostgreSQL to create a Postgres database, then leave the default version. Select a template for your use case Production - For production-grade deployments. Dev/Test - For development, testing and performance measurements. In Settings enter the following: DB Instance Identifier - prod-mirthdb Master Username - postgres (username for your database such as admin, dev, qatest, etc..) Master Password - XXXXXX (Password for your database) DB Instance Size - The DB instance class determines the computation and memory capacity of an Amazon RDS database instance. Retrieving Charge Amount in Cost Estimation

Charge amount is the amount a healthcare provider sets for the rendering services before applying any discounts. The pricing for a service depends on whether the place of service is a facility or non-facility location. If you are the administrator, you can set the Non-Facility Price and Facility Price fields for a specific SIM code in the SIM library and SIM exception. For information on setting up the pricing for a service item in File Maintenance, go to the NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the File Maintenance Libraries Guide for NextGen® Enterprise. Pre-Services Cost Estimation

NextGen® Enterprise PM offers a pre-service solution that offers clear estimation for planned or completed services. You can perform patient cost estimation if you have administrator privileges to perform administration tasks for the practice. The cost estimation feature enables you to: Obtain a breakdown of financial responsibilities between the patient and insurance provider. Inform the patient about the amount payable by the patient before or after using the services and the amount that will be settled by the insurance provider. Collect timely payments from the person or patient. Print cost estimation results in customized formats. Keep plain text notes for the estimation. Associate diagnosis code for the estimation. View previous cost estimates. Visit the account profile, patient balance, and chart of the person or patient from the cost estimation. Generate and view cost estimate reports.
