Reassign Patient Balances
To move patient balances for all charges, do the following:
Open
NextGen® Enterprise PM
.
Select
Charges
.
The
Charge Posting
window opens.
Select the desired patient and encounter, and then select the
Balance Control
icon.
The
Balance Control
window opens.
Right-click
Pat Amt
, and then select
Move all Pat balances to
.
From the sub-menu, select one of the following:
Ins1
: Moves patient balances on all charges from the
Pat Amt
bucket to the
Ins1 Amt
bucket.
Ins2
: Moves patient balances on all charges from the
Pat Amt
bucket to the
Ins2 Amt
bucket.
Ins3
: Moves patient balances on all charges from the
Pat Amt
bucket to the
Ins3 Amt
bucket.
Pat Amt
: N/A
Note:
The
Ins1

options available for selection is dependent on the number of insurances linked to the encounter.
Select the
R
column to flag charges to be rebilled, if needed.
To save changes and close the window, select

To move patient balances for selected charges, do the following:
Open the
Balance Control
window for the desired encounter.
In the
Pat Amt
column, press the
Ctrl
key and then left-click.
The patient balance for the selected charge is highlighted in blue.
Right-click
Pat Amt
, and then select
Move selected Pat balances to
.
From the sub-menu, select one of the following:
Ins1
: Moves patient balances on selected charges from the
Pat Amt
bucket to the
Ins1 Amt
bucket.
Ins2
: Moves patient balances on selected charges from the
Pat Amt
bucket to the

Reassign Insurance Balances
Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. Select Charges. The Charge Posting window opens. Select the desired patient and encounter, and then select the Balance Control icon. The Balance Control window opens. Right-click Ins Amt, and then select Move all Ins(n) balances to. From the sub-menu, select one of the following: Ins1: Moves insurance balances on all charges from the Ins2 Amt or Ins3 Amt bucket to the Ins1 Amt bucket. Ins2: Moves insurance balances on all charges from the Ins1 Amt or Ins3 Amt bucket to the Ins2 Amt bucket. Ins3: Moves insurance balances on all charges from the Ins1 Amt or Ins2 Amt bucket to the Ins3 Amt bucket. Reassign Partial Balances
To modify patient balances, the insurance balances must be modified and recalculate patient amount. During charge entry, amount that is automatically moved to the Pat Amt bucket on the first charge for the patient's co-pay. The additional amount is moved to Pat Amt by reducing the amount in Ins1 Amt. To move a partial balance from insurance to patient, do the following: Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. Select Charges. The Charge Posting window opens. Select the desired patient and encounter, and then select the Balance Control icon. The Balance Control window opens. Select Ins Amt to move the partial insurance balance charge to the patient. Reduce the Ins Amt balance amount to be moved to the Pat Amt on the charge. The difference between the original balance and the new balance in the Ins Amt bucket automatically moves to the Pat Amt bucket. To save the changes and close the window, select OK. Reassigning Charge Balances using Balance Control
Charge balances move between buckets in Balance Control based on the status selected for each line item during payment entry. You can manually reassign charge balances between buckets in Balance Control without entering a corresponding transaction. When a rejection receives from the primary payer because the patient no longer has that insurance. A $0.00 payment is posted from the payer, but a status of None is selected during payment entry which prevents charge balances from automatically moving from the Ins1 Amt bucket to the Ins2 Amt bucket. Balance Control can be used to manually reassign charge balances when needed. Reassign Insurance Balances You can reassign insurance balances on the Balance Control window. Reassign Patient Balances You can reassign patient balance on the Balance Control window.
