Access File Maintenance. Select Libraries, and then Anesthesia. The Anesthesia Library List window opens. Do one of the following: To create a new library, select open menu button and select New. To modify an existing library, select the library from the list, and then select open menu button and select Open. The Anesthesia Library Maintenance window opens. In the Anesthesia Library Name field, enter a name for the library. This field is required. In the Provider Specialty Mapping section, select the appropriate specialties for all Medical Directors, CRNAs and Anesthesiologist Assistants in the practice. These fields are required. Note: The specialties available for selection are from the Specialties master file in File Maintenance. The appropriate specialty must be linked to each anesthesia provider in the Providers master file, on the Practice tab, in the Specialty field. In the Default Anesthesia Concurrency Audit Report field, select a previously memorized version of the AnesthesiaAdd or Modify an Anesthesia Library

The Anesthesia Concurrency Billing functionality in NextGen® Enterprise PM is enabled by selecting an Anesthesia library in Practice Preferences > Libraries. Access NextGen® Enterprise PM. From the Admin menu, select Preferences, and then Practice. The Practice Preferences window opens. In the Preferences List on the left, select Libraries. In the Anesthesia Library field, select the library to be used for the practice. To save changes and close the window, select OK. The Anesthesia library is used by practices that do Anesthesia Concurrency Billing in NextGen® Enterprise PM. It is not typically used by practices using Basic Anesthesia Billing. The Anesthesia library enables you to define rules that apply to specific payers only, rules that apply to all other payers, and rules that apply to self-pay. Each set of rules may include one or more of the following: Medical Direction: These rules determine whether modifiers are added to charges based on the level of medical direction and whether charges will split between Medical Directors and CRNAs. Concurrency Rules: These rules define specific parameters, such as the maximum number of concurrent procedures allowed, whether a Medical Director can perform and direct at the same time, and split-charge percentages for Medical Directors vs CRNAs. Claim Options: These rules define specific claim parameters, such as whether or not surgical procedure codes are included on claims, and how claims break by renderiAnesthesia Library
