Add or Modify a Payer

From the Master Files - System list, select Payers. The Payers List window opens. To add a payer, select open menu , and then select New. The Add Payer Information window opens. Enter all the required information under the following tabs: Payer Defaults - 1 Defaults - 2 System Practice Alt Payer External Co-Pays Select OK to save the changes. To modify a payer, select the payer from the list, select open menu , and then select Open. The Modify Payer Information window opens. Do the required changes and then select OK. Activate and Assign a Payer to a Practice

When you select Practice access for payer master file, the payers can be defined at the practice level, and you can restrict which practices have access to them. After all the practices have been set up with or without access to the selected payer, specific areas in the application where that practice, depending on their access, will or will not see the payer: File Maintenance The Group Information window in File Maintenance NextGen® Enterprise PM The Payer Lookup window The Eligibility Referral Lookup window The Claim Request Lookup window The Add/Modify Provider Information window The following areas of the application show all the payers in the enterprise regardless of the practice's access settings: Reports Service Item Library Maintenance Activate Practice Access to the Payer Master File Assign a Practice to a Payer You can assign access to practices for a payer. Import a Practice Payer into a Practice

The Import Practice Payer feature enables you to copy practice-specific data from one practice into another practice. You must be logged into the practice that you want to import into. The copied data includes practice access information and information from the Practice tab. If a practice already has payer information, importing overwrites any payer data that may already be in the practice. One situation in which you might want to import a practice payer is when you have created a new practice and you want to add payer information that already exists. Instead of manually re-entering all the existing payer practice information, you can simply import it from a payer and only modify the fields as needed. In File Maintenance under Master Files, select System. The list of System Master Files displays. Double-click Payers. The Payer List window opens. In the list, right-click the Payer whose information you want to import, then select Import Practice Payer. The Import Practice Payer Data wi

Select Media Types

You can select the media type for secondary and tertiary COB levels in the Payer master file. You can set the default media type for primary, secondary, and tertiary claims to be different for a particular payer. To access this window, open File Maintenance, select Master Files > PM > Payers, and then select the applicable payer. On the Modify Payer Information window, select the Practice tab and then the Claims sub-tab. In addition, you can set the Payer master file to force secondary and tertiary claims to paper for another payer. In other words, regardless of the media type setting in the Payer master file for the next payer, you can override those settings and force the claim to paper for the payers getting the secondary and tertiary claim.
