Issue Partial Credits

When a credit card was used for an electronic transaction, you can credit the entire transaction amount or any amount less than the original transaction. However, partial credits are not issued for an original credit card payment that is not applied. You can issue partial credit card payments for any original line-item transactions that have been settled with the transaction processor. The transaction must be at least one day old.

  1. To enable partial credits, access Practice Preferences > Preferences List > Payment Processing, and then select the Allow partial credit on credit card payments check box.
  2. Create an active transaction batch.
  3. Open the Patient Chart > Encounter > Transactions subtab.
  4. Locate and select the encounter with the credit card transaction, right-click, and then select Credit Card Credit.
By default, the transaction code and transaction amount from the original transaction display.
  5. Manually change the amount in the CC Amt field to create the partial credit. The amount will be a negative amount.
  6. Select Save.
A confirmation message displays the amount of the credit entered.
  7. Select Yes.
The credit is applied. After you select Yes, the transaction batch must be posted.
  8. Select OK.
