Viewing a Patient Wait List

If a patient has an active Wait List Item, you can view the wait list in two ways. You can use any of the access methods listed under Adding Patients to Appointment Wait Lists. You can also view the Wait List items for a specific patient by opening the patient appointment and selecting the Recall/WaitList tab. Parent topic: Appointment Wait Lists

Find Appointment Waitlist Items

You can use the Waitlist Lookup function to find wait list items for viewing, editing, or deleting. Select the Tasks menu and select Lookup, and then Waitlists. The Waitlist Lookup window opens. Enter the appropriate Search Criteria. Select Find. The results display in the Waitlist List section. Double-click on the item that you want to access. Note: When you select the Clear button, the content of all the fields on the Waitlist Lookup window is removed except for the date fields. Parent topic: Appointment Wait Lists

Add a Patient to the Appointment Wait List

When a patient wants an appointment time that is not available, you can add the patient to the appointment wait list. Perform an Appointment Search Ahead to find an appointment time that is an acceptable alternative time for the patient. Schedule an interim appointment for the patient at that time. On the Appointment Search Ahead window, select the Wait List button. The Patient Wait List Item window opens. Select a value for the information for the Event and Duration fields. Select the location in the Service Location field, if applicable. Select the High Priority option if this Wait List item is to take precedence. Select the resource(s) in the Resource field. Note: In the Date/Time Range section, limit the range in these fields as much as possible to narrow the scope of the search. Otherwise, once you run the wait list process, your results may be excessive in number. Expiration of Wait List Items

A Wait List Item automatically expires when the calendar date reaches the end of the Date/Time Range set up in a Patient Wait List Item. The Wait List Item is deleted without notification. Parent topic: Appointment Wait Lists

Appointment Wait Lists

When a patient's preferred time slot for an appointment is not available, you can create a Wait List item for the patient. A Wait List Item is a means of holding the patient's place in line for an appointment that best meets their first preference. Prior to adding the patient to a wait list, it may be desirable to schedule an interim appointment for the patient. This ensures the patient has an appointment, even though it may not be on the date/time they prefer. The interim appointment exists until an appointment time slot and/or resource that meets the patient first preference, as recorded on the Wait List Item, becomes available. At that point, if the Wait List feature is configured to process automatically, the application creates a Worklog task that instructs the current user to convert the Wait List Item to an appointment for the patient. The application then deletes the interim appointment since the patient now has an appointment that meets his or her first preferences. Reference:
