Create a Pre-Defined Co-Pay by Visit Type

From the Detail tab in the Insurance Maintenance window, pre-defined co-pays can be created for a patient's insurance that are based on type of visit. For example:

  • Office Visit = $20.00
  • Preventive Care Visit = $0.00
Once created, a pre-defined co-pay can be selected from the list in any of the co-pay amount fields on the Detail tab.
  1. Access the Insurance Maintenance window for the patient's insurance.
  2. Select the Detail tab.
  3. In the lower-right section of the window, select the Open Menu button and then select New.
If any required fields on the Detail tab have not been completed, then a prompt appears stating that all fields with Red Labels require an entry.
The Add Payer Co-Pay Information window appears.

  4. In the Description field, enter a free-text description for the co-pay. For example, Office Visit. This field is required.
  5. In the Default Co-Pay Amount field, enter an amount for the visit co-pay. The default is $0.00.
  6. Leave the Default this Co-Pay into the Enc Co-Pay for these Specialties field blank.
  7. To save changes and close the window, select OK.
The pre-defined co-pay displays in the lower-right corner of the window and is now available for selection in any co-pay amount field.
