Restrict User Access to the Client Defined Tab

When at least one of the 14 client defined fields are labeled in the Enterprise Preferences, the Client Defined tab displays in the Add/Modify Patient Information window. Security rights determines the users ability to modify the fields on this tab. Open System Administrator, and then select the appropriate group. Select the Rights tab. Expand MODULES > General > Client Defined. Under Access Rights, select the rights you want to grant. Note: If Add is checked but Update is not, users can make a selection in the blank Client Defined fields when they open a chart. However, when they reopen the chart, any fields with values are disabled. If Update is checked but Add is not, users can make a selection in the Client Defined fields that have values. Blank fields are disabled. If a client-defined field is required but a user does not have the proper access rights to modify the field, the user cannot save patient charts. Select Save or Update. Restrict On-the-Fly Additions to Religion and Church Fields

You can add values for the client-defined fields in the master lists. You can also add values on the fly for Religion and Church fields on the Patient Information window Demographics tab. These on-the-fly values are then added to the related master lists. You can limit the users access to add values on the fly or not. Open System Administrator. Go to Edit > Find. Select the appropriate Find By and type the search text in the field and select Find Now. Select the appropriate user group. select the Rights tab. Expand Operations > General > Demographic Client Defined. Under Access Rights, select Yes or No to allow or deny the ability to create new values. Select Save or Update. Client Defined Tab

The Client Defined tab enables you to add multiple client-defined fields at the enterprise level. These fields display in various areas of NextGen® Enterprise EHR and NextGen® Enterprise PM. When you add a client-defined field, a corresponding master list with the same name is created. The values you add to the master lists become the values users can select when the client-defined fields display in the following areas of NextGen® Enterprise EHR and NextGen® Enterprise PM. In NextGen® Enterprise PM and NextGen® Enterprise EHR Add/Modify Person/Patient Information window, on the Client Defined tab and the Demographics tab. In NextGen® Enterprise PM Patient Chart Patient Information tab and Demographics tab. Also on the NextGen® Enterprise PM Appointment Details window, on the Chart/Ins tab. Managing Client Defined Information

The Client Defined tab appears only when one or more custom Client Defined fields have been created in Enterprise Preferences. Up to 14 client-defined fields can be set up and then used to collect additional information for what is not already a standard field within the application. In Enterprise Preferences, each client-defined field can be set up to be required either for all persons and patients when a demographic record is created, or for all patients when a chart is created. In Practice Preferences, each client-defined field can be set up to be required either for all persons and patients when an appointment is scheduled, or for all patients when a chart is created. Information on the Client Defined tab is stored at the enterprise level; therefore, all practices in the same enterprise share the same information for a person or patient. The following table describes the fields in the Encounter practice preference. Open the Person Information or Patient Information window for the desired person or patient. Select the Client Defined tab. In each of 14 Client Defined fields, select an item. Note: Enterprise-level, client-defined fields are labeled in Enterprise Preferences. Items available for selection in each field are from the corresponding Master List in File Maintenance.
