Holidays
Practice Preferences.
Select

To add a new holiday, select

To modify a holiday, select the holiday in the list, select

. You can also double-click the item to open it.

window opens.
Enter a
Description

Start Date

and
End Time
for the holiday. These fields are required.
Complete the remaining fields to complete your holiday setup.
When you are done setting up your holiday preference, select
OK
to save and close the window.

Resources Available On Holidays
When holidays are specified in Practice Preferences, you can make a resource available for all holidays or for no holidays. You cannot select individual holidays. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. On the Admin menu, select Scheduling Admin. The Scheduling Administration window opens. Select the Resources tab, then double-click a resource in the list. The Edit Resource window opens. Holiday Practice Preferences Descriptions
The following table provides descriptions for the fields found in Holiday Practice Preferences. Field Description Description Enter a name for the holiday. Start Date Enter the date that the holiday starts. End Date Enter the date that the holiday ends. Start Time Enter the time that the holiday starts. End time Enter the time that the holiday ends. Suspend Appointment Scheduling Select the check box to prevent appointments from being scheduled on the holiday. If someone tries to schedule a resource on a holiday, a message informs that the date is a global holiday and the resource cannot be scheduled. Also, the resource is not available for Appointment Search Ahead for the holiday or for a multiple-day event chain that includes the holiday. When you select this check box, you can select additional resource and category options. You can override this setting for a specific resource in the Scheduling Admin in NextGen® Enterprise PM. The Appointment Scheduler and the NextGen® Background Business Processor can recognize your holiday schedule. By entering the holidays that your practice observes, you specify dates and times that appointments should not be allowed and that Business Background Process (BBP) jobs should not be run. Holidays affect Appointment Search Ahead, Appointment Conflict Checking, and the NextGen® Background Business Processor Job Scheduler. Set Up Practice Preferences for Holidays
The Appointment Scheduler and NextGen® Background Business Processor can recognize your practice's holiday schedule. By entering the holidays that your practice observes, you specify dates and times when appointments are not allowed and that NextGen® Background Business Processor jobs should not run. Holidays affect the ability to search future appointments and check for appointment conflicts, as well as scheduling jobs in NextGen® Background Business Processor. To open the Practice Preferences window, do one of the following: In NextGen® Enterprise PM, select Admin > > Preferences > Practice. In File Maintenance, select Master Files > System > Practices, double-click a practice name, and then select Preferences. From Preference List, select Holidays. To add a holiday, select the menu icon, and then select New. To modify a holiday, double-click the holiday in the list. The Holidays window opens. Configure Providers as Available On Holidays
When you set holidays in practice preferences, you can make a provider available for all holidays or for no holidays. You cannot select individual holidays. In NextGen® Enterprise PM, select Admin > Scheduling Admin. The Scheduling Administration window opens. Select the Resources tab, and then double-click a resource in the list. Chart Tracking Office Holidays
You can designate specific days that your practice is closed for business. In File Maintenance, under Master Files, select System > Chart Tracking Preferences. The Chart Tracking Preferences window opens. Select the Office Holidays tab. Do one of the following: To add a new item, select Open Menu , and then select New. To modify an item, select the item in the list, select Open Menu , and then select Open. The Office Holidays window opens. In the Name field, enter the name of the holiday, for example, Thanksgiving. In the Date field you can either enter the date or select the Calendar button and then select the date. Select Next to add another item or select OK to return to the Office Holidays tab. Note: If you are editing an existing holiday, the Next button does not display. If you want to delete a holiday, right-click a holiday in the Holiday list, and then select Delete.
