Assigning User Preferences to Users and Groups

When you apply a Default User Prefs master file at either the user or group level, they overwrite any previous settings. For example: If a user is in Group A and in Group B and you apply a Default User Prefs master file first to Group A and then apply a different Default User Prefs master file to Group B, the user will have the preferences applied to Group B. If individual users have already set up their User Preferences in NextGen® Enterprise PM, their settings are overwritten when you apply a Default User Prefs master file. Applying the Default User Prefs master file only resets the preferences until the next time preference changes are saved. The settings are not retained, therefore, a user can change the default preferences in NextGen® Enterprise PM and the user-saved preferences will be saved. If necessary, you can modify the rights to prevent users from changing the User Preferences in NextGen® Enterprise PM. Assign User Preferences to Users and Groups Parent topic: Default User

User Preferences

User Preferences contain the: same list of preferences as Universal Preferences. However, user Preferences override Universal Preferences. For details about each of these preferences, see Universal Preferences. same fields that assign the NextGen® Enterprise PM User Prefs master files to the user that are on the Groups > General tab. Selections in these fields override any selections made previously on the Locations tab, at the group level, or at the user level in the NextGen® Enterprise PM User Preferences. Select the required user. Select the Preferences tab. In the list on the left side of the Preferences tab, select the folder you want to set up. The list on the right side updates to display all available preferences in the folder and any defined values. In the Preference column, double-click the preference you want to set up. Default User Prefs - Scheduling

You can designate default scheduling user preference settings in File Maintenance and then apply them to all users within a group or to individual users in System Administrator. Open File Maintenance. Select Practice Master Files, then PM, and then Default User Prefs - Scheduling. The Default User Prefs - Scheduling List window opens. Do one of the following: To add a new item, selectOpen Menu, and then selectNew. To modify an existing item, select the item in the list, selectOpen Menu, and then selectOpen. You can also double-click to open the item. When the above step is performed, the below mentioned window appears. The Default User Preferences - Appointment Scheduling window opens. In the Default User Preference Name field, enter an name for the scheduling preferences. This field is required. You can specify default user preferences settings in the Default User Prefs master files. After you apply the master files to individual users or to all users within a group, the settings become the default User Preferences in NextGen® Enterprise PM for those users. In addition, you can restrict users from changing the defaults. Set User Preferences Rights

You can determine whether users can change their own User Preferences in NextGen® Enterprise PM. If these rights are enabled and you apply default user preferences to the users, then the users can change the preferences. If you disable the rights, the users are restricted from making changes. Open System Administrator. Select a group. On the Rights tab, select: Under OPERATIONS > Preferences > Location, set whether the users can access the location User Preferences to set up preferred locations. If this Operations right is turned off, then the Locations menu item in NextGen® Enterprise PM (under Admin > Preferences > User) is disabled. Under OPERATIONS > Preferences > Scheduling, set whether the users can access the scheduling User Preferences. If this Operations right is turned off, then the Scheduling menu item in NextGen® Enterprise PM (under Admin > Preferences > User) is disabled. Under OPERATIONS > Preferences > User, set whether the users can access the general User Preferences.

Add a New Group

Select a practice to add a new group. From the main menu, do one of the following: Select Edit > New > Group Right-click the selected practice, then select New Group. The General tab for a new group appears on the right side of the window. In the Name field, enter the name of the new user group. If your facility requires a description, then enter a brief one for the group in the Description field. If you want to assign default NextGen® Enterprise PM User Preferences settings for all users in the group, you can select a general, location, and scheduling preferences master files. Note: If you make a selection in the PM User Prefs - Locations field and save the change, the settings of the preferences display on the Locations tab of User Maintenance for each user in the group.
