Note:
- This field lists only HIPAA-compliant reason codes from the HIPAA X12 Reason Codes library. The selected code displays as the default on the Coordination of Benefits Information window.
- This code can be used in conjunction with the COB reason code selected in the Reason Code Library Maintenance window.
- If you use non-HIPAA compliant reason codes during Payment Entry and a value is selected for the Default COB Reason Code field, the default reason code is substituted for any non-compliant codes.
